Frank Savino
As a former All New York State and All New York City defensive
lineman at Holy Cross High School Frank Savino quickly found
that he needed more size and strength than his 235 pounds
could supply to survive the rigors of collegiate football
at Hofstra University.
Applying the principles of High Intensity Training to his
own athletic preparation, he built himself into an All American
defensive tackle and noseguard and at 285 pounds he enjoyed
a brief professional career with the Orlando Thunder of
the World League Of American Football which later became
NFL Europe. He also had an invitational try out with the
Cincinnati Bengals.
After working with NFL, Olympic and collegiate athletes
from numerous sports at the facility of Dr. Ken Leistner
for four years, and preparing these top level competitors
for the rigors of their seasons, Frank completed post-graduate
degrees in counseling and higher education administration
and served St. John's University of New York as an Associate
Dean Of Student Affairs for fifteen years. He left the field
of college administration in 2004 and founded Gridiron Inc.
Gridiron is a strength and conditioning facility, specializing
in High Intensity Training and located in Flushing, Queens,
N.Y. There he directs all program development and supervises
the training of many top high school athletes in the New
York Metropolitan area, as well as professional and amateur
athletes involved in a variety of sports.
